MEET OUR TEAM

Florence Animal Hospital is so lucky to have such an amazing group of people! Each individual brings different experiences and perspectives with the common love of animals and desire to take care of their patients. They come together as a team to put the health of your pet first.

VETERINARIANS

Dr. Maddie Hayward

Dr. Maddie and her family have lived in Florence since 2018. Prior to moving to Montana, her family lived in several different states while her husband, Rob, was in the military. While Rob flew airplanes, Dr. Maddie practiced both small animal general and emergency medicine. Once Rob retired from the Air Force, they decided to follow a dream and moved to Montana to raise their family. Dr. Maddie and her family love Montana and cannot imagine being anywhere else.

Dr. Maddie graduated from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, reproduction, internal medicine, emergency medicine and preventative care. Dr. Maddie has always known that she has wanted to own a veterinary hospital. In Fall 2021, with a lot of sacrifice and hard work, she and her family built and opened Florence Animal Hospital.

Dr. Maddie stays active when she is not at Florence Animal Hospital. Most of the time she can be found chasing after her two young children. She also enjoys spending time outside with their menagerie of animals including horses, goats, and chickens. As a hobby, Dr. Maddie breeds and raises Nigerian Dwarf goats. She likes their small size and milk production ability. They're perfect for 4-H or as a pet. If you want a goat, you know who to go to!

It was in the mid 70’s that her family retired to Missoula, MT. She has called Montana home ever since. Kathy’s love of horses, the wilderness, and a rural lifestyle drew her to the Bitterroot Valley some thirty years ago. When not in the office you will find her enjoying the great outdoors.

Heidi

We love Heidi. She is invaluable in assisting in exam rooms, in treatment with procedures, and with client interactions. She has a very versatile position and can be found helping with everything that happens in the clinic. Heidi split her childhood between Texas and Vermont, but the allure of Montana's ranches and mountains brought her west in 2009. She has worked on horse ranches since the age of thirteen, but her desire to work with animals of all sizes has led her to pursue a career as a veterinary technician.  Heidi has been working in the veterinary field since 2017. She received her Veterinary Assistant Certificate through San Juan College and is working towards becoming a certified veterinary technician. Her animal companions include dogs, horses, cats, bunnies, goats and chickens. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, yoga and gardening. Heidi strives to treat each pet that comes through the door as if it was her own and make both pets and their people feel welcome.
